Chicago Reviews & Conan
September 27, 2002 9:21 PM
There are some great reviews of Coldplay's show in Boston that are now available online for your reading pleasure. The Chicago Sun Times' review is called "Warm melodies of Coldplay" and contains the following excerpt:
"On Tuesday night, the lads in Coldplay made sure Paul McCartney didn't maintain a West Side monopoly on melody-soaked British rock; in fact, they seemed out to prove Sir Paul didn't even put on a better show. For the last stop on its U.S. tour, Coldplay delivered 90 minutes of warm melodic goodness that had to make the band's homeland very proud indeed."
Other reviews of the show can be accessed via The Official Coldplay Website.
The band appeared on Late Night with Conan O' Brien last night, and performed yet another great rendition of 'In My Place.' I was hoping they'd bust out the 2nd single, 'The Scientist,' but maybe we'll get to see that on the new season of Saturday Night Live or something. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Britney Spears and 'Coldplay on Ice?'
September 27, 2002 8:49 PM
One thing's for sure: Coldplay's Chris Martin does not live in a musical vacuum. The British band's lead singer took many musical detours on its North American tour with bits of songs by Bon Jovi, Britney Spears, and Nelly, among other acts, during various dates.
During the band's recent appearance in the New York area, Martin worked in slices of Spears's "I'm a Slave 4 U" and Nelly's "Hot in Herre."
"We're more handsome than *NSYNC and we've got better ballads," he quipped onstage, dipping into *NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" during Coldplay's "Trouble."
Martin also took the Nelly diversion in Boston and Toronto. He additionally compared the group to Bon Jovi and banged out a verse of "Living On A Prayer."
Coldplay wrapped up its North American tour on Tuesday (September 24). The band launches a European jaunt on October 4 in Glasgow, Scotland and will go from England to Ireland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, Italy, and Sweden.
As for the future, guitarist/songwriter Jonny Buckland told LAUNCH, "Yeah, we want to do a show on ice, you know, ice dancing. And, yeah I think that would be good. Or some kind of, maybe, tour on the back of a boat around the rivers of the world, you know, the Amazon and the Nile. 'The Great Rivers Tour,' I think that would be pretty cool. Yeah, we've got some way to go."
