Break-Up Rumors Not True
December 12, 2002 9:58 PM
Reports of Gwyneth Paltrow's new relationship with Prince Nicolas seem to be unfounded - she's madly in love with Coldplay rocker Chris Martin.
Despite claims over the weekend that the Hollywood star had begun a new romance with the Greek royal, sources in British newspaper The Sun report that her two-month relationship with the British singer has grown increasingly serious.
The Oscar winner has flown her mother Blyth Danner in from Los Angeles to meet her boyfriend.
Paltrow arranged for her mother to fly into London on a private jet, before being whisked off by helicopter to her pals Sting and Trudie Styler's house in Wiltshire so she could introduce mom to Martin.
A friend of Paltrow's says, "Gwyneth was anxious for her mother to meet Chris, but because he has been so busy touring with the band around Europe and she has been filming Ted and Sylvia all the time, it has been difficult for them to arrange a date.
"The dinner party at Sting and Trudie's was the ideal opportunity for them all to meet up.
"I think Chris was really nervous but he carried himself off really well. Blythe absolutely loves him. She thinks he's the best boyfriend Gwyneth has ever had - he was very charming."
Paltrow now intends to spend Christmas Day at Martin's family home in Exeter after meeting the Yellow hitmaker's mother Alison at a recent Coldplay gig.
The source adds, "Chris has said it is cool if she wants to go down for Christmas. It will be a real family affair but Gwyn is a bit nervous."
The pair will round off their Christmas break by going off for a romantic two-week break together in the Maldives - and Paltrow's pal predicts that the happy couple will continue to go from strength to strength.
They say, "As far as Gwyneth is concerned the sky is the limit now. She is head over heels and has told us that Chris is the love of her life."

End of the Year Honors
December 11, 2002 9:14 PM
According to Coldplay's Official Website, the band has been nominated for two MTV Asia awards, one for Favorite Rock Act and the other for Favorite Video (In My Place). The awards ceremony will take place on January 24th.
You can vote for 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' as the best album of 2002 over at VH1.com. They're up against Nelly, No Doubt, Bruce Springsteen, Pink and Eminem. Be sure to vote!
Canoe is reporting that Coldplay has tapped Toronto singer-songwriter Ron Sexsmith to open up 14 dates on the bands frontman, Chris Martin, in favour of Prince Nicholas of Greece.
Rumours are rife that the royal has been a regular visitor to her London home.
If the gossip is true, Chris looks like joining the likes of Brad Pitt, Luke Wilson and Ben Affleck on her long list of exes.
And cue more sad songs from Coldplay.

Long Awaited Update
November 25, 2002 10:29 PM
I apologize for the lack of updates in the past week or so, but I had some site problems (which you may have noticed) as well as a bunch of work to do that wasn't Coldplay related. I'm starting to get back on track, though, so here's a long-awaited Coldplay update for you starving fanatics out there :)
As you most likely have heard by now, Coldplay is gearing up for yet another U.S. tour in support of its latest album 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head.' After a string of pre-Christmas radio performances, as well as a slot on the Late Night With David Letterman show on Dec.19, the band will hit the road beginning Jan. 21 in Orlando and wrap up on Feb. 9 in Phoenix, with 14 dates currently scheduled. I'm sure a lot of you out there (myself included) are keeping your fingers crossed in hopes that more dates will be added. If and when they are, you'll hear about it here first.
You also may have heard by now that Chris debuted a new song, called 'Moses,' during Coldplay's recent show over in Europe at the Madrid Riviera. I haven't heard any real details about the song yet, but if I get a hold of any lyrics, or better-yet, audio, I'll be sure to add whatever it is to the site. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has more information about the song would email me, too.
According to an article over at RollingStone and a few fan-emails I received (thanks, by the way), Coldplay is set to perform at KROQ's thirteenth annual Almost Acoustic Christmas this year, along with Sum 41, Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, and the Flaming Lips. The set of two shows will take place on December 7th and December 8th in Los Angeles.
You can expect to see some footage of the band on their 2002 tour come New Year's Eve, when Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve airs. Apparently the footage will be shown as part of a "look back" on some of the better tours of 2002.
And finally, I'll leave with a rather humerous piece of news. NME is reporting that Coldplay has unveiled a new bizarre cover while on tour in Scandenavia. According to several fans at their November 21st show at the Copenhagen VK Hall, Chris and Jonny covered Aqua's 'Barbie Girl.' Apparently Chris did the Barbie voice while Jonny played the part of Ken. One fan said about the rendition, "it was awful and yet amazing at the same time, but they had to quit one minute into the song because they couldn't stop laughing and it really was a spectacular sight!"
The article also goes on to say that several new songs, beyond the aforementioned 'Moses,' have been unveiled in the past few days. The band performed a song with the working title 'Gravity' in Copenhagen, and another called 'Marianne' in Stockholm on Saturday night that has been labeled a "full on rock song."

Backgammon and Such
November 17, 2002 2:38 PM
Today's a pretty big weekend for Coldplay fans in the U.S. Tickets for their January/February U.S. tour have now gone on sale. Hopefully all of you that plan on seeing them this time around have managed to get some tickets. They haven't announced a date for Seattle yet, so it's still up in the air as to whether I'll have a chance to see them or not.
There's an interesting article over at NME that talks about Chris Martin spending time with P. Diddy and Robbie Williams. According to Chris, "Robbie, P Diddy, all those other people, they are just normal people. It's all bollocks. But I'm loving it anyway!" You can read the article, which discusses some other big names in entertainment as well, at NME's website.
Ireland Online is reporting that Coldplay's new single for 'The Scientist' has debuted at the #10 spot on the UK singles chart. It will be interesting to see where it shows up over here in the U.S., given that the single over here is an entirely different song.
