Chris is Now a Married Man
December 10, 2003 9:24 PM
There's been a lot of buzz lately about Gwyneth's pregnancy and the possibility of a wedding. Reports are finally starting to surface all over the web that suggest the couple has finally tied the knot. I just want to congratulate Chris and Gwyneth on all their newfound happiness.
The following comes from Reuters:
Actress Gwyneth Paltrow married her Coldplay lead singer boyfriend Chris Martin in a secret ceremony last week, just two days after announcing they were expecting a baby together, People magazine reports.
In a report to hit newsstands on Friday, People cited a source close to Paltrow as saying the pair married privately in the southern California seaside town of Santa Barbara on December 5. The magazine said they then headed to Mexico for a honeymoon at the Cabo San Lucas resort.
Publicists for Paltrow, 31, and Martin, 26, declined to confirm or deny the report. People said no family members attended the wedding, which took place shortly after the couple applied for a marriage license.
Paltrow, who won an Oscar for "Shakespeare in Love" and Martin have said little about the pregnancy except that the baby is due in the summer of 2004.
Paltrow, who was once engaged to Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt and dated actor Ben Affleck, met Martin backstage at a Coldplay concert in 2002, but the couple have shied away from discussing their relationship in the media.
Friends have said that Martin proved a huge support for Paltrow after the sudden death in October 2002 of her father, film director Bruce Paltrow.
Affleck told People; "She had a really tough year. And it's so wonderful to see somebody get some happiness."
The couple have spent much of the past year in London, where Paltrow has been filming a movie about poet Sylvia Plath, called "Sylvia."

Chris Martin Expecting Baby
December 03, 2003 1:36 PM
Gwyneth Paltrow and boyfriend Chris Martin are expecting their first child next summer, her publicist said Wednesday.
The couple were "pleased" to confirm the pregnancy, publicist Stephen Huvane said in a statement. He declined to say whether there were wedding plans.
The 31-year-old actress has been dating Martin, frontman for the British band Coldplay, for the past year. Both have been reticent about publicly discussing their relationship.
In a recent interview with the British Broadcasting Corp., Paltrow said she hopes to marry but wouldn't reveal whether that aspiration extended to the 26-year-old Martin.
Paltrow won a best-actress Oscar in 1999 for "Shakespeare in Love." She stars as poet Sylvia Plath in the new film "Sylvia."

More on What Might Have Been
November 28, 2003 10:36 PM
It's funny that immediately following my post concerning a missed opportunity with singer/songwriter legend, Johnny Cash, a flurry of news articles would pop up with more details. Here's one of them:
Coldplay have revealed they wrote a song for Johnny Cash which remains incomplete following his death earlier this year.
According to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the band completed recordings on a track for the country legend and were waiting for him to lay-down the vocals.
Martin, speaking on Coldplay's official website, said Cash had made plans to travel to Los Angeles to record his vocals in September. Cash died a week before he was due in the studio.
Martin explained: "We did a song for Johnny Cash. We recorded it with Rick Rubin and everything and all that was missing was his vocals. He was going to fly out to LA the week after he died."
He added: "It's really sad."
'Unearthed', a five-CD compilation of material recorded with Rick Rubin during Johnny Cash's 'American Recordings' series, is released on December 8.
