Pickin' On Coldplay
February 08, 2005 6:31 PM
I was recently given a copy of Pickin' On Coldplay: A Bluegrass Tribute and I have to say I am impressed. Usually when I think of tribute albums, less-than-stellar performances by underwhelming artists come to mind. Occasionally though, and it is certainly true in the case of "Pickin' On Coldplay," a tribute album can help a band transcend genres. "Pickin' On Coldplay" features a blazingly fast bluegrass rendition of Coldplay's career-launching hit, "Yellow." "Clocks" is familiar in melody, but pleasantly unfamiliar in the emotions it provokes. Any true Coldplay fan should own "Pickin' On Coldplay," if only to experience some of Coldplay's greatest songs in a brand new way.

Album Delay has Financial Effects
February 08, 2005 12:02 AM
Apparently EMI has announced a profits warning that album sales will be down 8-9% from what they originally had predicted for the current fiscal year. Rather than citing illegal downloads as the root cause, the label has cited the fact that "executives had been told by Coldplay that the top-selling band's third album would not be ready for release until after EMI's financial year ended in March." Apparently the delay in release of Coldplay's next album is affecting more than just the band's fans. For more details, be sure to check out The Guardian.

Beyonce Knowles has confessed she is desperate to record a duet with Coldplay star Chris Martin.
The Destiny's Child singer admits she is a huge fan of the British rockers and would love to get in the studio with the multi-talented musician. She said: "I've done duets over years but would love to work with Coldplay. Singing with Chris would be cool." Rumours are rife Chris, who is married to Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, could be interested in hooking up with the 'Bootylicious' singer to record a track.
