'Speed of Sound' Video
May 26, 2005 8:24 PM
MTV now has the 'Speed of Sound' video available to view on their website.
They've also got a cool article talking about how X&Y is really Coldplay's "fifth" album. If you don't know why, well I guess you should go read the article.
And while we're on the subject of articles, there is a pretty interesting interview with Chris Martin over at Entertainment Weekly's website. One of my favorite quotes from the article follows:
And every time I try and put sunglasses on, or mention that I might get my ear pierced, it makes me think, would 'The Scientist' really sound as good if you sang it in that outfit? It probably wouldn't, you see...I wish I'd got my ears pierced, but it's too late now, because you would just look like a knob.
For more great quotes from Chris, be sure to read the article.

Coldplay Want More 'Gorgeous Girls'
May 24, 2005 7:48 AM
Coldplay want Beyonce Knowles to star in the video for their next single Fix You, because their fans deserve more "gorgeous girls".
The band aren't confident people like their promo for Speed of Sound, the first single from their new album X&Y – but they think they are naturally disadvantaged because there are no women in the group.
Frontman Chris Martin says: "I think the only way for us to get a video that does really well is for us to get Beyonce in it. I'm not sure how we're going to do that, though. We're at such a disadvantage because we don't have gorgeous girls in our band.
"So it's much harder for us to make videos. We should make videos like that band that always has loads of gorgeous girls in their videos – Maroon 5. I think we should give them a call."

There's a great interview with the entire band over at Newsweek today. Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy all chime in about the new album, their growing popularity, and much more. My favorite quote from the interview comes from Jonny, who when asked about this unique guitar sound responds with the following:
I'm just trying to make my guitar sound like my heroesóJohnny Marr. Kevin Shields. Keith Richards. And George Harrison, of course. And it just comes out wrong. And that wrong sound ends up being me. [Laughs]
Be sure to head on over to Newsweek to read the full interview.
