Gwyneth Doesn't Like American X&Y Reviews
September 23, 2005 7:46 PM
Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow has slammed US music critics after they wrote damning reviews of her husband Chris Martin's latest Coldplay album.
Despite good reviews and sales in Martin's native Britain, respected American publications Rolling Stone, Spin and the New York Times blasted the band's third disc X&Y, with the Times critic labelling the group "the most insufferable band of the decade. His voice is the sound between a yodel and a hiccup".
Paltrow fumes: "I thought: 'I wish this writer extreme misery and bodily harm.' If you're the partner of the person, it's a dagger to the heart."

Coldplay are edging closer to a collaboration with hip hop impresario Timbaland, after it was revealed they recently got together in a US studio.
Rumours linking Timbaland, famed for his work with Missy Elliot amongst others and his radical production, and Coldplay emerged around two years ago.
However, Chris Martin has now revealed that he spent four hours working with Timbaland during their current US tour, describing it as "the best fun I've had".
Calling the experience "amazing", Martin's comments come after Timbaland revealed in 2003 that he was very keen to work with the band.
He said at the time: "Coldplay are my favourite, favourite group right now. I can do it anytime. I'd clear anything to work with Coldplay.
"The only [artist] I'd like to do a song with is Coldplay. That's the only one I really want to work with now," he insisted.

Chris is Feeling Better Again
September 17, 2005 1:42 PM
Coldplay's Chris Martin has recovered from an illness that had forced his band to cancel a several shows on their American tour.
The band pulled gigs in Tampa, on September 14 and in Birmingham , Alabama on September 16, but Martin has been cleared to sing again tonight (September 17) at Bank Pavilion in St Louis.
The singer had been suffering from a throat illness, however drummer Will Champion has reassured fans with tickets to the cancelled shows that the band will make up for those dates.
"Chris is suffering from some issues with his throat and it was felt by his doctor that if he didn't give his voice a rest he might not be able to sing for the rest of the US dates," Champion wrote on Coldplay.com "Please be assured that we are planning on returning to the US in the spring of 2006 and when we do we will definitely reschedule both these shows."
Meanwhile it has been revealed that Coldplay plan to donate the profits from US downloads of current single 'Fix You' to charities supporting victims of Hurricane Katrina.
