US Tour Presale

July 18, 2002 12:44 PM

Well, as you all know (or should know, at least), presale tickets went on sale this morning for Coldplay's upcoming US tour. I managed to get the tickets I wanted to the Seattle show, so I'm excited about that. From what I've seen though, most of the shows are either running low or have sold out their presale supply. I hope everyone was able to get the tickets they wanted.

On a related note, I just want to say that I will not be giving out any information that is meant only for registered members of Coldplay.com. I was astonished by the number of emails I got from potential scalpers this morning. The folks at Coldplay's official site have done a tremendous job of making the presale go as smoothly as possible, and they even provided a link for those who hadn't received the password email in time, so please don't ask me to help you. I have heard too many complaints from true fans who have been screwed because of scalpers. I just don't want to be a part of it.

And finally, on an unrelated note, Coldplay will be featured on MTV this coming Saturday, July 20th. According to MusicStation.com, you can see them on "Spankin' New Videos" at 1am Eastern.

Oh, and don't forget to vote for the Glastonbury song you'd most like to hear in the discussion forum. So far, "God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" is in the lead.

Yet another reason to join the discussion forum. I have added a poll to the Songs forum asking what song from Coldplay's recent Glastonbury set you'd most like to hear. Simply cast your vote, and the winning song will be available for download to all discussion forum members. Be sure to join today if you haven't already, as I will be making more and more goodies available exclusively via the forum as time goes on.

Photos, Sounds and Support

July 16, 2002 5:38 PM

As I have said before, people have been very supportive of my site from the get-go. It's great to know that people are appreciative of the work I put into it. The last 24 hours have been another example of people wanting to lend their support.

Natalie Kreuter, from sweetness-online.de has been generous enough to let me post some pictures she took of the band in Cologne on my site. The pictures were taken from their appearance on a radio show on the 10th of July. Be sure to check out the photos section to take a look at these great images!

In like-fashion, I've been given access to tracks off of the new Faultline LP, "Your Love Means Everything." I will be reviewing the album sometime in the coming days, so be on the lookout for that. In the meantime, be sure to check out the Faultline website at http://www.faultline.co.uk, and give a listen to these two new tracks with Chris Martin on vocals:

In tour news, the band 'IdleWild' will be supporting Coldplay on their tour of the UK coming up in October.

And lastly, I need to make a correction to a previous news entry. Apparently Comedy Central delays their broadcast on the West Coast, so the band's repeat SNL appearance will air at 6pm on both the East and West Coast today. Don't miss it!

US Tour Dates Announced

July 15, 2002 7:01 PM

Coldplay.com has just announced the official dates for their US tour in September. The dates are as follows:

  • 9/4 Seattle - Paramount
  • 9/6 San Francisco - The Greek
  • 9/7 Las Vegas - The Joint
  • 9/9 San Diego - SDSU Open Air Theatre
  • 9/10 LA - The Greek
  • 9/14 Atlanta - Masquerade Music Park
  • 9/16 Baltimore - Pier 6
  • 9/17 Boston - Fleetboston Pavilion
  • 9/19 New York - Tommy Hilfiger @ Jones Beach Theatre
  • 9/21 Toronto - The Sears - Air Canada Centre
  • 9/24 Chicago - UIC Pavilion
Apparently, Coldplay.com has reserved 10% of the tickets for registered site members, which will be available during the pre-sale period. If you haven't registered, you better do it quickly, because they will be sending that email out sometime in the next 24 hours.

The people running the band's website are going out of their way this time to make sure nothing goes wrong. Knowing that we registered users have a 10% hold on the ticket sales is a big deal, especially since most of the venues in the September line-up are pretty small. They are kicking off the tour in my hometown, Seattle, at a venue called "The Paramount" that is a great place to see a band. I can't wait. I'm sure all American Coldplay fans are dying to see/hear the band perform their new material.

More on the ticket sales and tour as news arises.
