Coldplay Debuts at #5 in the USA
September 04, 2002 2:54 PM
Unfortunately for us all, the Dixie Chicks came in at #1 in the USA this past week, with sales of about 780,000 albums. However, Coldplay's 141,000 copies sold was enough to enter them in the U.S. charts at the #5 spot.
The good news is, even though they didn't debut at #1 like they did in the UK, this album is so full of potential singles that they're guaranteed to be lingering in the top spots for quite a while. Then again, I've never been one to let album sales weigh on how I feel about an album or a band. I think 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' is an amazing effort by Chris and the gang, and can't wait to see them on stage tonight at the Paramount. I don't feel ashamed quoting Playlouder when I say, "Coldplay are flippin' wonderful."

Chart Magazine & OnePoster.com
September 04, 2002 2:39 PM
I was contacted by Chart magazine today in regards to their September issue. Coldplay has made the cover this month, and there is a full feature on them including exclusive pictures. The cover can be seen via this site's home page, but a larger version is available with the full article at ChartAttack.com.
In addition to the article and photos, the site is offering exclusive downloads of Coldplay wallpaper. All you die-hards out there should definitely take a look. And that's not all, either. They are offering a contest giving Coldplay fans a chance at winning some very cool "Coldplay goodies." Beware, there is a skill-test involved, but if you don't pass it you don't deserve the cool stuff anyway! To enter the contest, click here.
In other news, I've teamed up with OnePoster.com to help give Coldplay fans access to things like band posters and keychains (in case they aren't lucky enough to be winning all these contests). Be sure to visit the links page to access the site's banner and buy some cool Coldplay stuff.

Coldplay Hits #1 on UK Chart
September 02, 2002 7:17 PM
According to Billboard.com, Coldplay sold 250,000 copies of 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' in its first week of release to instantly hit the #1 spot on the UK album chart. It will be interesting to see where the album lands on the US chart. I believe this will be revealed tomorrow, so be sure to come back to my site to get the low-down. According to Coldplay's official news ticker, the 1/4 of a million albums sold marks 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' as having the biggest first week album sales of the year in the UK.
