Chris Martin played a surprise set in London last night, airing a new Coldplay track and a cover of a Killers song.
The Coldplay star appeared on a bill that included Lily Allen, The Automatic and James Morrison, in the latest Little Noise Session for the charity Mencap.
Martin performed four songs with a violinist at the Union Chapel, covering "When You Were Young" by The Killers and new track "Bucket For A Crown", which he said was written 24 hours earlier.
Finishing his set with a cover of Bob Dylan's "Buckets Of Rain", Martin paid tribute to Allen, who later played a five-song set, including acoustic takes on "LDN" and "Smile".
Dedicating the song to the UK pop star, he said: "This is for Lily Allen. She's gorgeous, she's sweet. And if I wasn't married..."
