Coldplay, The Darkness and Travis are among the acts rumoured to be involved with the re-release of Band Aid's 1984 hit single and, once again, it's to raise money for the ongoing famine in Africa.
Coldplay's Chris Martin (known already for his charity work with Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign), Travis' Fran Healy and Justin Hawkins of The Darkness are all reported to have told original organisers Sir Bob Geldof and Midge Ure they will make time in their schedule to be involved.
"Chris is one of many artists that has been approached," a spokesman for Coldplay told Xfm, "And we're going to see what develops."
"It's definitely going to happen," Ure explained to The Sun, "I'm very excited. This project is not just about raising money. It's about putting the focus back on Africa and the problem of famine which has not gone away.
