Chris Martin has requested police drop a charge of malicious damage against him relating to an alleged incident in Australia.

As previously reported, the Coldplay singer was allegedly involved in an incident in July this year with a photographer at the popular Byron Bay beach resort where he was surfing.

Photographer Jon Lister claims Martin demanded he deleted the pictures of him surfing from a digital camera. As the argument progressed it is alleged he went at Lister's vehicle with a rock, before attempting to let the air out of his tyres.

BBC news reports that a hearing today his lawyer, Megan Cusack, asked for the charge to be dropped. Magistrate Chris Bone adjourned the case until 21 November.
