Coldplay has been nominated for three Top of the Pops awards this year. Ananova is reporting that the band has been nominated for top rock, top tour and top album all awards they are very deserving of. To cast your vote, visit BBC's website. The awards will be handed out on November 30th.
According to NME, Tuesday night's "Fair Play" event was a resounding success. After Coldplay's set, Ms Dynamite took the stage (a fellow Top of the Pops award nominee) and performed a cover of Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" with the band, as well as a few of her own songs.
After that, Noel Gallagher from Oasis joined the band to perform 'Yellow,' a The Smiths' cover, Oasis' 'Live Forever,' and 'Whatever.' All in all, Coldplay's set ended up looking something like this:
- 'In My Place'
- 'Don't Panic'
- 'The Scientist'
- 'It Takes More' (with Ms Dynamite)
- 'Three Little Birds' (with Ms Dynamite)
- 'Dy-Na-Mi-Tee' (with Ms Dynamite)
- 'Yellow' (with Noel Gallagher)
- 'Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before' (with Noel Gallagher)
- 'Live Forever' (with Noel Gallagher)
- 'Many Rivers To Cross' 'Whatever' (with Noel Gallagher)
For those of you here in the U.S., you can catch a rerun of Coldplay on Saturday Night Live this coming Thursday, November 7th. It will air at 6pm Eastern on Comedy Central.
And finally, Ed O' Brien of Radiohead fame has given Chris Martin and the guys in Coldplay props for handling their rather sudden success in the music business. In an article at dotmusic, he is quoted as saying "I think they've had a lot more success than we had initially. If we'd have had their success that early I know we would have imploded big time, so full marks to them."
