Coldplay is currently on a North American tour in support of its album A Rush Of Blood To The Head, which is Number Eight on the Billboard 200 album chart.
LAUNCH caught up with Coldplay on Thursday (September 19) backstage at its Jones Beach concert in New York, and asked guitarist Jonny Buckland what has been the most surreal moment for the band. "This gig tonight is quite special," revealed Buckland. "It's the biggest headlining gig we've ever had. It just keeps getting stranger."
He added, "We're just having a really, really great time touring. The fact that we're allowed to go on tour and tour places and lots or people will come and see us is quite surreal. We can just think back to when we were writing songs in my bedroom--and that really does sound cheesy--but thinking, 'Oh wouldn't it be great if we could tour America,' and for it to actually happen is very surreal."
Coldplay wraps up its U.S. tour on Tuesday (September 24) at Chicago's UIC Pavilion. The band then returns to the U.K. and Ireland for a string of October dates.
